The Ocean in a Drop - Episode 24

Hi, and welcome to The Ocean in a Drop, where we connect deeply to the world around us by connecting deeply to the world inside of us. I’m your host Mini, and I’m so glad I get to share this space with you.

Today we’re exploring the question, “What’s your minimum wage for relationships, for your work/service, for your time and attention?”. We’ll also share a time of listening together.

Many countries and states have minimum wage requirements. That means people must be paid the minimum amount stated in the law for their labor or services. It’s against the law to pay them less.

Why do minimum wages or standards matter? They are a way to ensure the individual or business is receiving enough benefit to be able to keep growing and functioning well.

What if we applied this idea of minimum standards or wages to our relationships? What do you need in your relationships to receive enough benefit to be able to keep growing and functioning well?

Ready to create relationships that benefit you and your unique spirit? Listen below to find out how.

Hi, and welcome to The Ocean in a Drop, where we connect deeply to the world around us by connecting deeply to the world inside of us. I’m your host Mini, and I’m so glad I get to share this space with you.

Today we’re exploring the power of possibility. We’ll also share a time of listening together.

I went to a conference in San Francisco recently and I heard this story.

Once there were two boys who were childhood friends. One was a prince and the other boy was the son of a farmer.

The prince enjoyed his friend but was irritated by one particular quality. Whenever something happened, the son of the farmer would say, “This is good. This is very good.” He would respond this way even when the situation appeared negative.

When they grew up, the prince took his place on the throne and invited his friend to be a part of his court.

What happens next?

Find out what the prince and I learned from the farmer’s son by listening below.

Today we’re talking about the importance of fit. We’ll also share a time of listening together.

I lived in India for a couple of years and it was during my time there, that I came to learn about why fit matters.

Women and men in India visit their tailors regularly to ensure their clothes fit their particular body.

And honestly, the results are spectacular. When something fits just right, it doesn’t matter what size or shape you are, or how much you weigh. You look and feel amazing.

But here’s the thing. That’s not only true of your clothes. It’s true of your life.

The Ocean in a Drop - Episode 20

Hi, and welcome to The Ocean in a Drop, where we connect deeply to the world around us by connecting deeply to the world inside of us. I’m your host Mini, and I’m so glad I get to share this space with you.

Today we’re exploring the question, “What if you just asked for what you wanted and let it go?”.  We’ll also share a time of listening together.

So I actually experienced the results of asking this question in my own life. My husband loves astronomy. And in 2017, an exciting astronomical event was happening. It was a total solar eclipse that was going to be visible on a path stretching from Oregon to South Carolina in the United States.

A total solar eclipse is when the moon completely covers the sun as it passes by, so that only the corona, the atmosphere around the sun, can be seen.

It doesn’t happen often and it’s amazing to witness, so of course my husband wanted to see it.

The solar eclipse was going to be on Monday, Aug. 21st, 2017. I had to report for jury duty and be available through at least Friday, Aug. 18th. People had been planning trips and booking flights to see this phenomenon in some cases, years ahead of time. I wouldn’t be able to even book a flight until the Friday before it was happening. I told my husband I’d see what I could do.

Find out what happened next and have a chance to explore your own dreams by listening now.

Hi, and welcome to The Ocean in a Drop, where we connect deeply to the world around us by connecting deeply to the world inside of us. I’m your host Mini, and I’m so glad I get to share this space with you.

Today we’re exploring growing conditions. We’ll also share a time of listening together.

I learned a lot about growing conditions at the end of a hike at Spooner Lake in beautiful Lake Tahoe, Nevada. I paused and saw a sign. It explained how to care for the trees of the forest and what conditions they needed to grow to their full potential.

What conditions are you in right now? Are they helping you grow or are they holding you back? Let’s find out together.

The Ocean in a Drop - Episode 18

Hi, and welcome to The Ocean in a Drop, where we connect deeply to the world around us by connecting deeply to the world inside of us. I’m your host Mini, and I’m so glad I get to share this space with you.

Today we’re exploring what it looks like to take care of something that’s a limited edition. We’ll also share a time of listening together.

What do you think when you hear the words limited edition? The first thought that comes to my mind is that it’s rare. There’s only a few. I also think it must be special or valuable.

Like a Babe Ruth rookie baseball card. How would you treat that card if you owned it?

Now think about a human being, a soul surrounded by flesh. It’s the ultimate limited edition.

How are you treating yourself?

Here’s the thing, just like it’s the owner of the baseball card’s responsibility to take care of it and keep it safe, it’s your responsibility to find out what you need to stay in top condition and take care of yourself that way. Because your life has an owner too and it’s you.

Ready to find out more about how to be a good owner to yourself? Let’s go exploring together.

Hi, and welcome to The Ocean in a Drop, where we connect deeply to the world around us by connecting deeply to the world inside of us. I’m your host Mini, and I’m so glad I get to share this space with you.

Today we’re exploring what it feels like to live from a place of peace and power. We’ll also share a time of listening together.

How do you experience this place of peace and power? How do you access that power inside of you to hold the space for yourself, even when your circumstances aren’t holding it for you?

It goes back to what Martin Luther King Jr., Rosa Parks, and Justin “Brick” Howze did in the stories I share with you today. They knew who they really were. They understood what the truth was and wasn’t. And they made a conscious decision to be true to themselves regardless of the outcome.

I also share my own story of holding the space for myself and give you the opportunity to connect with the truth about yourself.

And if you’d like to learn more about Justin “Brick” Howze and his friend Gage Crismond who I share about in this podcast, here is a link to the L.A. Times article I referenced:

Hi, and welcome to The Ocean in a Drop, where we connect deeply to the world around us by connecting deeply to the world inside of us. I’m your host Mini, and I’m so glad I get to share this space with you.

Today we’re exploring the wonder of getting to know ourselves and the people who cross our paths in life. We’ll also share a time of listening together.

How many times have you made up a story about someone you really haven’t taken the time to know? How many times has that story actually been true?

I spun what I thought was a reasonable story from seeing this person for a few seconds without any other context. And it was so wrong.

This is why I value treating everyone including strangers with dignity, and the kindness and respect I want to be treated with. You never know how someone is or can be connected to you. And make no mistake, every one of us is connected to each other simply because we’re alive.

We can miss out on a lot if we’re not open to the world around us and what it has to offer including the people who cross our paths.

If you’re ready to live at that level where your mind is getting blown on a regular basis because you’re awake to all that life has to offer you, then I can help you. Email me at mini@minipalmer.com to get started.

Ready to notice and give thanks for what life is offering you today? Let’s dive in and explore together.

Hi, and welcome to The Ocean in a Drop, where we connect deeply to the world around us by connecting deeply to the world inside of us. I’m your host Mini, and I’m so glad I get to share this space with you.

Think about your life or one area of your life. Ask, “Where do I find myself right now? Am I stuck in a cage of past experiences and what I’m used to, or am I flying free and exploring a sky of possibilities?”

Today I’m sharing a poem that came to me. It explores those two different ways of living. I chose to write it down so I wouldn’t forget the truths it was reminding me of. It’s called, “A Door to the Sky”. I’ll read it to you and we’ll share a time of listening together.

Remember, you aren’t waiting for your life. Your life is waiting for you to tell the truth about what you want.

Are you ready to fly and explore the sky of possibilities that’s waiting for you right now? If you’d like help with that, I welcome you to visit minipalmer.com/coaching or email me at mini@minipalmer.com to get started.

Hi, and welcome to The Ocean in a Drop, where we connect deeply to the world around us by connecting deeply to the world inside of us. I’m your host Mini, and I’m so glad I get to share this space with you.

Today I want to talk about the woman who gave birth to me. This is a love letter to my mom. And if you’re just getting to know me, this is a chance to find out more about who I am by learning about who I came from. We’ll also share a time of listening together.

People often tell me that they love my hugs. And I always respond that I learned from my mom. She wasn’t afraid to squeeze and neither am I. That’s another thing I learned from her. To put all of yourself into what you do, whether that’s a hug or anything else.

One of my guiding principles is that the truth sets you free. And when you know deep in your bones the truth that you are loved and wanted regardless of anything you accomplish or don’t accomplish, then it gives you the freedom to try, to take big leaps toward your dreams, to dream in the first place, and just see what happens. Life isn’t a test to be passed. It’s an experience to be lived. You are so much more than a success or a failure. You are a once in a lifetime human being. So enjoy yourself. Make the most of your life! My mom didn’t teach me that. She showed me that by the way she lived her life and gave me the foundation of love and acceptance to live my own life.

To hear more about my mom and the valuable lessons I learned from her, listen to Episode 14.

If you’re ready to go for your dreams and really enjoy yourself in the process, visit minipalmer.com/coaching to learn more about how I can help you and sign up for a consultation call.

The Ocean in a Drop - Episode 12

Hi, and welcome to The Ocean in a Drop, where we connect deeply to the world around us by connecting deeply to the world inside of us. I’m your host Mini, and I’m so glad I get to share this space with you.

Today we're talking about invitations and how we choose our response. We’ll also share a time of listening together.

Do you realize you’re getting invitations all the time? From billboards, commercials, companies, your friends and family, your phone, social media. And each invitation is a request for you to invest something. It could be your time, money, talents, energy, presence, or attention. Attention is a big one.

When you look at it from this perspective, it can start to feel overwhelming and stressful. I mean how many times does your brain have to work a day to make decisions?

So how do we approach invitations and live in a way that frees us from the hamster wheel of exhaustion and just trying to keep up?

One thing that has helped me respond to invitations is to check in with myself.

I created a game to help you check in with yourself and I’m super excited to share it with you. Just go to minipalmer.com/coaching and you'll see it when you scroll to the bottom. It’s a valuable resource you can use to help you any time you’re faced with a choice.

Want to learn more about how to make choices that value your time and energy? Listen to Episode 12 below. If it resonates for you, reach out and let me know. You can email me at mini@minipalmer.com. I’d love to hear from you.

Hi, and welcome to The Ocean in a Drop, where we connect deeply to the world around us by connecting deeply to the world inside of us. I’m your host Mini, and I’m so glad I get to share this space with you.

Today, we’ll explore how our choices can reveal what we believe about ourselves and others. We’ll also share a time of listening together.

Years ago I read a book by Madeleine L’Engle. It’s called, “Walking on Water”. She also wrote “A Wrinkle in Time” and other books.

One of the lines that stayed with me from “Walking on Water” is this,

“We name ourselves by the choices we make.”

I know why it stayed with me. It’s one of those messages that when I see, read, hear, or feel it is like a flaming arrow of truth that’s been shot straight into the center of my heart.

It’s simple and profound and revealing at the same time.

And for me, it caused me to stop and think about my choices and what they say about me.

What do your choices say about you? Do you like the story they’re telling about you? You have the power to change that story at any time. Come find out how.

How do you know when it’s time to let go?

The same life and wisdom that is in the orange tree guiding it to blossom, ripen, and release its fruit in the proper season, is in you communicating to you through your thoughts, desires, feelings, when it's time for you to blossom, ripen, and release. You just have to slow down, pay attention and listen.

Today, we’ll explore how the different stages in a fruit tree’s life can teach us about the different seasons of our own life. We’ll also share a time of listening together.

Today we’re talking about justice and how we can use our voices to change another person’s life. We’ll also share a time of listening together.

People’s lives hang in the balance and whether we deserve the privilege or not, we have been given an opportunity and a responsibility to use our voice to give them justice.

Because at its core, justice is about what kind of story gets told and who believes that story.
